Raising healthy, vaccine-free children through the use of Homeoprophylaxis

HP

Homeoprophylaxis aka HP- What the heck is that?

Anyone who has ever weathered and overcame a case of childhood chicken pox knows that a by-product of having the illness is the generation of antibodies and therefore immunity to that disease. If a person continues into adulthood while maintaining their health, it is highly unlikely that they will ever contract chicken pox again. In this case, the pathogen responsible for chicken pox helped educate the immune system so that the system now carries an internal map, if you will, to mitigate the pathogen should our example person ever cone in contact with it again. As a child of the 80s, I remember my mom trying to expose my siblings and I to other kids rumored to have chicken pox in the hopes that we would contract the illness early in life to create the necessary antibodies for immunity.

More than 200 years of HP- Long before Louis Pasteur or Edward Jenner, the fathers of modern vaccination practices, injected their unsuspecting animal and human subjects with their early vaccine concoctions, Samuel Hahnemann, the father of homeopathy, documented the use of the common homeopathic remedy, Belladonna, in the successful prevention of scarlet fever. This was the first case of the successful use of Homeoprophylaxis.

The process of HP- HP seeks to help the wisdom of the body recognize and know what to do with an offending pathogen. When the wisdom of our bodies encounters a pathogen, it generates one or number of immune responses depending on the physiological system the pathogen enters and disrupts. For example the pulmonary or digestive system may be disrupted by a pathogen. The body may produce a fever, mucus, vomit, etc. These symptoms are the body conducting its business of ridding itself of a pathogen. The body does what it needs to and illness runs its course when symptoms are not suppressed. Antibodies are created and immunity occurs when the body is allowed to satisfy the process of naturally acquired disease. HP seeks to help satisfy that process of naturally acquired disease.

In HP, a child is orally given a homeopathic remedy of the disease. A remedy is made through immense amounts of dilution and succusion, or “attenuation, so that no crude substance is left. Ultimately it is the imprint, or frequency, of the disease that is present and helps to educate the immune system. Rather than give an injection of the pertussis microbe incubated on animal material or otherwise, HP remedies are made from the “attenuations” of disease products like discharges and excretions from human beings who have resolved the disease themselves. In this way a developing immune system is given an energetic demonstration of the natural disease process and will therefore have a greater likelihood of knowing what to do if and when the individual encounters that disease in the world.

HP Schedule- HP follows the same major diseases that the current conventional medical model vaccinates against. Rather then receiving injections,  a child receives multiple oral remedies in different potencies of the diseases according to a schedule focussing on one disease per month. The recommended program starts at one month of age and finishes at 44 months but can be started at other intervals if needed. The goal is to assist a healthy child in further developing immune functions to specific infectious diseases by school age. Homeoprophylaxis does not claim to eradicate infectious disease. We know that we share this world with many other organisms, some of them helpful to our development. Through proper sanitation, diet and living habits, HP is as effective, with less side effects, as conventional vaccination.

Resources- There is some great information about the efficacy of HP, more links are provided under the Links tab. Much of the information you see posted here is drawn from The Solution, a fabulous book written by HP mavens Kate Birch and Cilla Whatcott. Check out The Solution for a wonderful easy read about immunological development, our microscopic pathogen neighbors and see a great breakdown of the conventional medical view of disease alongside the homeopathic view of disease.

A wonderful and thoughtful organization researching HP, educating concerned parents, as well as the general populace about HP, and helping to make HP accessible across the world is Free and Healthy Children International. They are based here in the US and are steeped in the important work of compiling studies and giving a louder voice to those of us who have felt but do not have the “science” to prove that there are connections between the current onslaught of vaccines and the pervasive incidences of developmental delays, allergies etc. Free and Healthy Children International is collecting documentation to show that with HP, a child does not have to be relegated to the “typical” childhood issues, allergies and hurdles that are “mysteriously” becoming more and more common today.

Isaac Golden , the Australian homeopath has also pioneered the more widespread use of homeoprophylaxis. He researches natural immunization and sites several case studies of HP.

Knowledge about and desire for HP is growing. Find an HP trained professional homeopath in your area.

  3. I want to start my daughter on the HP program she’s 6 months and partially vaccinated. The only thing is, is that literally No One around knows what I am talking about. I explain myself to them and have been told by one natural doctor that I could purchase the nosodes myself, but I would greatly prefer some guidance on this and to have someone practiced advise me on the steps I should take to begin the journey to naturally vaccinate her.

    • Hi Mary,

I’m glad you found our site. The best way to do HP would be with a homeopath trained in the practice of HP. You, as the parent, would administer the nosodes and chart progress. Through the process you would always have your supervising homeopath for guidance and to help with any questions that arise. And we are more than happy to welcome you to our community here as well. This website was launched April 2013 with the vision of generating conversation and an online community of support for parents who are using HP to support their children’s immune systems. Click on the link I have in the information above to find an “HP trained homeopath” in your area. Feel free to also visit the Links tab on this website where you can also find the link. vaccinefree.wordpress.com/hp-supervision will give you a list of supervisors able to help you with the HP program.

  6. Hi,

My son is 2 months old and has Down syndrome. My other two sons 3 & 6 are partially vaccinated. After seeing a change with my 3 year old after his first Dtap shot, I made up my mind to stop and search for a natural approach. It wasn’t until I came across this website that I finally understand how to proceed. I need a good recommended doctor to take my boys but especially in need of natural intervention starting with the HP choice for my son with down syndrome. Who would you recommend in San Diego? preferably north county.

    • Hi,
Thank you so much for visiting and leaving such a thoughtful comment. As you can imagine, many parents find homeoprophylaxis after witnessing alarming or even subtle changes in their children after a vaccine. Changes they are nonetheless and we all do want to do what is best for our children. That DTaP did it for us as well. I’m so thankful for a non toxic way to be proactive with helping my child develop his immune system safely.

In my experience, I have found that many pediatricians, and other allopathic doctors for that matter, are still very new to HP if they have even heard of it at all. I find that when I go to visit a ped’s office I bring my literature on HP. I also have had the experience of being told that my family and I just “wouldn’t be a good fit” if I chose not to follow the vaccine protocol, even after explaining the changes in my son after the DTaP and talking about HP. Keep up your search for someone who is open to truly listening to you and the needs of your family.

If you are able to find a good pediatrician, or family practitioner, that supports and promotes a holistic approach (preventative nutrition, complementary practices etc) in their own practice, they tend to be open minded and supportive of HP as well. Check out the HP website Vaccine Free for more information on HP and HP supervisors across the nation. (I pasted the link for the California page, 2 in LA and 2 in Mendocino.) The good news is the numbers of HP trained homeopaths is growing. If you already have a homeopath in San Diego then perhaps they would be open to training as a supervisor. While I am not yet a homeopath, I’ve sat in on the training myself and it is very informative and not too time consuming for an already busy area homeopath. The other thing to keep in mind about HP is that you can also work with a homeopath long distance. Your homeopath is there to answer questions and oversee the process, you are the direct line of contact with administering the HP nosodes and keeping logs and the schedule.

I hope this helps you get started on your search for an HP practitioner.
      All the best,
      Kat

  9. Hi there,
I’m a mother of one. His name is Eli. I have questions regarding HP. My husband feels he needs to be vaccinated and I don’t. But, because, I love him, I was looking into alternatives and this is all I have found. My question would be, where can I find a doctor who will administer this and can your child attend public school or would there have to be an exemption? I live in upstate NY. Thank you.

    • Hi,
Thank you for visiting the website and for your questions. One of the most important things a parent can do is do their homework regarding this topic and make the best possible decision with the researched information they have. You know what is best for your child and together it is important to weigh your options and decide accordingly. Each state is very different regarding the climate around to vaccinate or not. One helpful organization I have found regarding state requirements, school, exemptions, etc is the National Vaccine Information Center. Free and Healthy Children International is another beneficial site and where you can go to find an HP certified professional in your area. On the FHCi website you can also find a listing of the prices for the HP program. Explore and enjoy. All the best to you and your family.
